Parent Night Open House

You're invited to the Chief Joseph Parent Open House* on Tuesday, September 17 from 6:00-7:30 pm. Meet teachers, hear about classroom happenings, ask questions. Hoping to see you all there!

*Please note: This evening is for parents, so please leave the kiddos at home.

September Reading Calendar

Parents,
Today your child brought home a reading calendar for the month of September. Your child should spend 20 minutes each night reading a book of their choice. Age-appropriate magazines, fiction stories, non-fiction books, and e-books are all acceptable to read during this time. Students who read 20 minutes for 20 nights or more each month and return their calendar signed by an adult at the end of the month will be invited to the 20/20 Lunch Bunch. Please encourage your child to read often, as it is a vital skill for academic success. Thank you for your support!

All About Me

Parents,

Today your child will bring home a bag to fill with 1-3 items that tells a bit about them. Students should return this bag to school on Tuesday, September 3. Please help your child find a few things to put inside that they can share. Here are a few suggestions: pictures, souvenirs, a special toy (no cell phones or other electronic devices). Students will share all next week and items will return home no later than Friday, September 6.

A Fabulous First Week!

So far this week we've been busy learning routines, exploring place value, and using adjectives to write about ourselves.  Students are excited and eager to learn!

A few reminders:

• School begins promptly at 9:05 am
• Students are encouraged to bring a healthy snack each day
• We have PE on Mondays and Wednesdays--wear appropriate shoes
• The SAFARI folder should come home and come back to school daily
• Students will bring home their first weekly homework packet on Tuesday, September 3.
• We do not have school on Monday, September 2.

Also, mark your calendar for September 17. Our Open House will be from 6:00-7:00 pm. Hope to see you there!
