Lost and Found Headed to the Youth Ranch

Families,

Our lost and found is quite full. All items not claimed by March 21 will be donated to the Youth Ranch. If your child is missing a jacket, hat, lunch box, or other item, please look for it this week or next.

Supplemental Levy Approved

Just over 10,300 voters participated in Tuesday's election, with 6199 voters in favor of the proposed supplemental levy and 4107 voting against the supplemental. With a 60% majority, the school district will have the authority to levy $14 million for each of the next two years. The revenue will be used to fund school district operations, including maintaining the current number of school days and retaining staff. In addition, patrons can anticipate that the combined bond, plant facility, and supplemental levy rates will decline next year from the current 0.004382573 to 0.004077233. For a property with $100,000 in taxable value, this is a $30.54 reduction in property taxes.

Field Trip to the Boise Water Shed

The second grade is headed to the Boise Water Shed on Wednesday, March 12. Please make sure to send your child to school with shoes for walking and a jacket, as we will be touring the outside of the facility. Additionally, please send your child to school with a cold lunch. We may not return in time for our regularly scheduled lunch at school. If your child needs a cold lunch from the cafeteria, I must know by tomorrow morning.

Chief Joseph's first ever musical, 101 Dalmatians, is this Friday, March 14 at 6:30 pm at Meridian Middle School. One of our second grade students is playing Cruella DeVille! Tickets are just $3.00 each or $15.00 for a family of 5! Hope to see you there!

Full Day Kindergarten

Families,
Do you have a child starting kindergarten next year?  Chief Joseph is looking into adding a full-day tuition kindergarten program!  If you are interested please contact the office before May 1st.  We need to hear from 20 parents in order to add it.  It’s a fabulous opportunity! Research shows that children who attend a full-day kindergarten program enter first grade with more academic skills that are crucial to educational success.
