Families,
Chief Joseph will be having a lockdown drill tomorrow (Wednesday, September 25, 2013). This is simply a practice similar to a fire drill. The Meridian Police Department will be assisting us with our lockdown drill. Please know that this should take no longer than 15 minutes. As always, I will do my best to prepare students for this practice drill. I understand that an event such as this can be stressful, so please speak to your child about the importance of preparation in the very unlikely event Chief Joseph requires an actual lockdown.

September Behavior Tracker
Today a beavior calendar will come home with your child. It should stay in their SAFARI folder. Please check it nightly and initial so I know you've seen it. Students who get an initial on each night of the week will get a trip to the prize box on the following Monday. I am hoping that this will help students take responsibility for their actions. Together we can help your child make great choices!

September Reading Calendar
Parents,
Today your child brought home a reading calendar for the month of September. Your child should spend 20 minutes each night reading a book of their choice. Age-appropriate magazines, fiction stories, non-fiction books, and e-books are all acceptable to read during this time. Students who read 20 minutes for 20 nights or more each month and return their calendar signed by an adult at the end of the month will be invited to the 20/20 Lunch Bunch. Please encourage your child to read often, as it is a vital skill for academic success. Thank you for your support!
